1. Description

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially released the notification for the Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) Examination 2025 on 23rd June 2025. This national-level competitive exam offers a golden opportunity for 12th-pass candidates to secure government jobs in various Group C posts such as Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), and Data Entry Operator (DEO) in different ministries, departments, and constitutional/statutory bodies of the Government of India.

As per the SSC CHSL 2025 notification, approximately 3131 vacancies are expected to be filled through this recruitment drive. The application process has begun on 23rd June 2025 and will remain open until 18th July 2025. The selection process includes Tier-I and Tier-II computer-based examinations, followed by a Skill/Typing Test depending on the post applied for. 3. Eligibility

  • Nationality/Citizenship: Candidates must be either a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal, Bhutan, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from specified countries like Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and East African nations with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • Age Limit (as on 01-01-2026): Minimum: 18 years

5. Application & Correction Fee

  • Correction charges apply to all candidates, regardless of category.
  • Fee can be paid only by online mode through BHIM UPI, Net Banking or by using Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, RuPay Debit cards.

6. How to Apply SSC CHSL online

  1. Visit the official SSC website: https://ssc.gov.in
  2. Complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new SSC portal. (Old OTR from ssc.nic.in is not valid)
  3. Use a webcam or device camera to capture a live photo during the application process. Pre-uploaded photos are not allowed unless using Aadhaar authentication.
  4. Fill the SSC CGL 2025 online application form with personal, educational, and contact details.
  5. Upload scanned signature (10–20 KB, JPEG/JPG format, 6 cm x 2 cm).
  6. Pay the applicable fee online using BHIM UPI, debit/credit card, or net banking.
  7. Preview the filled form carefully and submit it before the deadline.
  8. Download and save a copy of the submitted application form and payment receipt for future reference.

11. SSC CHSL 2025 Tier-II Exam Pattern

Tier-II of the SSC CHSL 2025 exam is conducted in two sessions on the same day and includes both objective-type questions and a qualifying skill/typing test depending on the post.

🧾 Session-I: Computer-Based Test (Objective Type)

  • Section-I:
    • Part A – Mathematical Abilities: 30 Questions (90 Marks)
    • Part B – Reasoning and General Intelligence: 30 Questions (90 Marks)
  • Section-II:
    • Part A – English Language and Comprehension: 40 Questions (120 Marks)
    • Part B – General Awareness: 20 Questions (60 Marks)
  • Section-III:
    • Computer Knowledge Test: 15 Questions (45 Marks)
    • This section is qualifying in nature.
  • Duration: 2 hours 15 minutes (80 minutes for PwBD candidates with scribe)
  • Negative Marking: 1 mark deducted for each wrong answer in Sections I & II

⌨️ Session-II: Skill Test / Typing Test (Qualifying)

  • DEO (CAG/Ministry): Data Entry Speed of 15000 key depressions per hour (15 minutes)
  • DEO (Other Ministries): Data Entry Speed of 8000 key depressions per hour (15 minutes)
  • LDC/JSA: Typing speed of 35 wpm (English) or 30 wpm (Hindi) in 10 minutes
  • PwBD Candidates: Extra time and exemptions as per SSC rules
  • Note: This stage is qualifying and does not contribute to final merit.

12. Syllabus of SSC CHSL 2025

  1. General Intelligence & Reasoning: Analogy, coding-decoding, puzzles, classification, series, Venn diagrams, and spatial reasoning.
  2. General Awareness: Current events, Indian history, geography, polity, economy, general science, and static GK.
  3. Quantitative Aptitude: Number system, simplification, profit & loss, time & work, algebra, geometry, and data interpretation.
  4. English Language: Grammar, vocabulary, sentence correction, reading comprehension, synonyms/antonyms, and cloze test.

  1. Mathematical Abilities: Algebra, number system, percentages, averages, profit & loss, geometry, trigonometry, mensuration, and statistics.
  2. Reasoning & General Intelligence: Verbal/non-verbal reasoning, series, analogy, critical thinking, decision making, embedded figures, and spatial orientation.
  3. English Language & Comprehension: Grammar, comprehension passages, synonyms/antonyms, error spotting, narration and voice conversion, sentence improvement.
  4. General Awareness: Current affairs, Indian economy, science & technology, culture, awards, government schemes – more detailed than Tier-I.
  5. Computer Knowledge (Qualifying): Computer basics, internet, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email handling, cyber security.
  6. Skill Test / Typing Test: Typing speed test (8000–15000 key depressions/hour) or 35 wpm (English) / 30 wpm (Hindi) depending on the post – qualifying only.

13. Selection Process of SSC CHSL 2025

  1. Tier-I (CBT): Preliminary computer-based exam with objective-type questions in English Language, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness. Total duration is 60 minutes (80 minutes for PwBD). There is a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.
  2. Tier-II (CBT): Main exam conducted in two sessions on the same day:
    • Session-I: Includes Section-I (Math & Reasoning), Section-II (English & General Awareness), and Section-III (Computer Knowledge Test – qualifying in nature).
    • Session-II: Section-IV consists of Skill Test / Typing Test (qualifying in nature) based on the post applied.
  3. Skill Test / Typing Test (Tier-II – Section-IV):
    • For DEO (CAG/Ministries): Data Entry Speed of 15000 key depressions per hour in 15 minutes.
    • For other DEO posts: Data Entry Speed of 8000 key depressions per hour in 15 minutes.
    • For LDC/JSA: Typing speed of 35 wpm (English) or 30 wpm (Hindi) in 10 minutes.
    This stage is qualifying and mandatory.
  4. Document Verification: Candidates who qualify all tiers must produce original documents like 12th pass certificate, photo ID, caste/category certificate, and other relevant proofs during verification by the user department.
  5. Final Merit: Based on normalized scores obtained in Tier-I and Tier-II (Sections I & II). Skill Test/Typing Test and Computer Knowledge Test are qualifying only.
